LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Radio control pilots will be putting on a show this weekend. The Lima Area Radio Kontrol Society will host their "Sparks Over LARKS" show on Saturday.

The club promotes model aviation and holds events throughout the spring and summer to help raise money for field costs. Pilots will show off their skills with jets that can reach speeds of over 200 miles per hour. Members are inviting the public to come out and watch the fast-flying action in the sky.

Sparks Over Larks to bring high-speed thrills to Lima skies

Pilots will show off their skills with jets that can reach speeds of over 200 miles per hour.

"The airplanes, the radios are more capable than a human eye, but we try to keep stuff in a pattern depending on the wind direction, so everybody's flying in the same direction, and we're not passing like two cars on the highway. We don't want to do that, because that would be fatal to the models and and the owner's checkbook. So we want to kind of safety is always the first aspect. But if they come out here, they're going to they're going to see a cross of all aspects of the hobby," said Ron Ballard, member of the Lima Area Radio Kontrol Society.

The show will take place this Saturday, June 14, with the opening ceremony beginning around 10 a.m. and a noon-time demonstration of high-speed jets, weather permitting. The event is free to watch, and spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
