LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Ohio State University at Lima is celebrating a milestone for one of its educational outreach programs with the 10th annual "STEAM on the Quad" on Sunday, Sept. 27.

The free event will run from 1 to 4 p.m. on the quad and will feature hands-on activities focused on science, technology, engineering, arts and humanities, and math. The event is geared toward children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Robin Bagley, an associate professor of biology at Ohio State Lima, said the event gives children an opportunity to explore different fields that could eventually become interests or career paths.

"We market it for K through 8. I'd say we have most attendance for between K and 5, but we have some younger, some older, lots of families come. It's a day full of hands-on activities where they can come and try out all sorts of things that could eventually be things that might turn into interests that could be careers."

Registration is now open, and organizers ask families to preregister online. To celebrate the 10th anniversary, the Columbus Zoo, Neil Armstrong Air and Space Museum, Science Central and Imagination Station will participate in the event. If it rains, the event will be moved to Cook Gymnasium. Families are encouraged to mark their calendars for Sunday, Sept. 27, from 1 to 4 p.m. for STEAM on the quad.
