LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – The trial is underway for a man accused of killing a woman he lived with in 2024.

A jury was seated Tuesday afternoon to hear the case of Gervens Justilien, 33, who is charged in the death of Chrislande Auguste, 26, in March 2024. According to Allen County Sheriff’s detectives, Auguste was found dead of strangulation and blunt force trauma at a home on Makley Drive. Authorities say the two shared the residence with other Haitian nationals who had relocated to the United States seeking asylum.

Justilien was charged with murder, rape, and strangulation. Following the crime, investigators say Justilien fled the area. He was later arrested in Rhode Island by the U.S. Marshals Service. The trial is set to resume on Wednesday.
