LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center is looking for a new leader.

Abe Ambroza recently tendered his resignation according to a release from the center's board of directors. His last day will be October 31st. 

Ambroza became the center's CEO in 2016 replacing Cindy Wood, overseeing the daily operations of the downtown Lima facility that opened in 1984. Ambroza tells Your News Now he's proud of assisting in the growth of Lima-Allen County both economically and socially through of the arts, and he and his family will still be regulars at Civic Center shows and events. The center's board has posted the CEO position and formed a search committee to review applications for the position.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center (VMCCC), I announce the resignation of Abe Ambroza as Chief Executive Officer, effective October 31, 2025. After thoughtful reflection, Abe has chosen to pursue opportunities that allow greater flexibility to focus on his family’s evolving needs.

We express our deepest gratitude for Abe’s nine years of dedicated service and leadership. His tenure was marked by significant achievements, including expanding Broadway shows, concerts, and diverse entertainment offerings that enriched our local community and attracted visitors from afar. These efforts have strengthened the VMCCC’s reputation as a vibrant cultural hub.

The Board is immensely proud of the accomplishments achieved under Abe’s leadership. We have full confidence in our talented leadership team and staff to ensure a seamless transition and uninterrupted operations. The Board remains committed to fostering collaboration and charting a productive path forward.

To identify the next CEO, the Board is establishing a search committee dedicated to a thorough and thoughtful selection process. We seek a leader who will build on our strong foundation and guide the VMCCC into its next chapter of growth and impact.
