LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The West Ohio Food Bank continues to rely on the generosity of local and regional businesses to help meet the needs of the people it serves, and one of its longtime partners is Aunt Millie’s Bakery.
The bakery makes weekly donations to the food bank, but a delivery made in late December carried added significance. On Wednesday, Aunt Millie’s delivered about 1,500 food items that will be used for Christmas Eve dinner distributions to families across the region.
Food bank officials say partnerships like this are critical to their ability to serve those in need throughout west central Ohio.
“We take a lot of food in, we push a lot of food out. Of course, we're the largest food distributor in west central Ohio. So anytime we have a company and we have a regular relationship with a company like Aunt Millie's, it's a great thing,” said Jason Aldrich, communications and public relations manager for the West Ohio Food Bank.
Aunt Millie’s Bakery is headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and operates a distribution center in Lima, serving Allen County and the surrounding area.
