LIMA, Ohio (WLIO)- While Max’s Trader Days is one of the biggest events at the fairgrounds, it’s just one of many that help keep the Allen County Fairgrounds up and running year-round.
The fairgrounds host a wide variety of events throughout the year, from flea markets and gun shows to dog races and holiday lights. These events are crucial for the fairgrounds’ operations, helping generate the revenue needed to cover everything from staff salaries to major upgrades.

“It’s very important to have these off-season events because most people think that the nine days of the fair are enough revenue for us to operate an entire calendar year, and that’s just not true. With us being a nonprofit organization, we rely on events like Max’s, the Tri-State Gun Show, and home shows to bring in additional revenue so we can continue to pay our employees, keep the lights on, and improve our facilities before each and every fair that following year,” said Troy Elwer, operations manager at the Allen County Fairgrounds.
