WAPAKONETA, OH (WLIO) - Shoppers from across Ohio and even Indiana came out for Wapakoneta's Chocolate Walk on Saturday.

Over 25 downtown businesses participated in the Auglaize County Horseman Council's 2nd annual Chocolate Walk. Each location had their own unique chocolate snacks to hand out, and the council brought a pony for people to meet. Proceeds from ticket sales support the Horseman Council's scholarship program and will help pay for an improved horse arena at the Auglaize County Fairgrounds. Downtown Wapakoneta's layout, artwork, and number of businesses so close together make events like this appealing to both locals and tourists.

"It's like a Hallmark town, so if you watch Hallmark movies, it's like that. You go from business to business. It's a small town but there's businesses in every shop. There's local, there's big, so it's just a variety from earrings, to food, to ice cream," said Morgan Rempfer, the 2023 Auglaize County Equine Queen.

Some visitors said they came from as far away as places like Defiance, Napoleon, and Fort Wayne.
