LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — ArtSpace/Lima is showcasing local creativity through its gift shop, offering residents and visitors a chance to purchase unique artwork while supporting area artists.

Located at 65 Town Square, the shop features a variety of locally made items, including magnets, postcards, ceramics and “I Love Lima” T-shirts. ArtSpace/Lima Executive Director Sally Windle said the shop’s mission is centered on promoting artists and helping their work reach a wider audience.

“It's our main objective is to support the artists, but because they're in a place where they can get a lot of exposure, we work on a commission basis. But we're a very small commission because, again, it's about promoting the artists and getting their name and their work out there.”

ArtSpace recently received a new collection of ceramics from regional artist Robert Minto. Minto is well known in the Ada community, where he began his career as an art teacher and later retired as a high school principal.

His ceramic pieces are both decorative and functional, created using a high-firing technique that makes them durable for everyday use. Minto said retirement has left him with a studio full of work that he hopes others will enjoy.

“I get my work out and people see it, and people come over to their house and other people see it, and they say, you got really, and that's how I want to get things around. I want things, if these stay on my shelf, I see them and that, and I do work off of what I've already done, but I'd like to get them out and around to people,”

Minto’s ceramics will be available for purchase in the ArtSpace/Lima gift shop and will be featured during next Thursday’s Third Thursday sale. He is donating half of the sale price of his pieces back to ArtSpace/Lima.
