VAN WERT COUNTY, Ohio (WLIO) — The Ohio Department of Transportation's District 1 is preparing for a busy summer construction season in Van Wert County with three major projects scheduled to begin over the next month.
The first project, a single-lane roundabout at the intersection of U.S. 224 and Lincoln Highway, is scheduled to begin Aug. 1. Construction is expected to take about two months to complete.
District 1 will also construct a Restricted Crossing U-turn at the intersection of John Brown Road and U.S. 30. The new intersection design will be similar to the one built at U.S. 30 and Thayer Road in Allen County. John Brown Road will close beginning July 13 for approximately 17 days, while lane restrictions will be in place on U.S. 30 during construction.
The third project involves replacing the bridge carrying U.S. 224 over the railroad tracks between U.S. 30 and Lincoln Highway. That project is also scheduled to begin Aug. 1 and will require the bridge to be closed for approximately 120 days.
ODOT encourages motorists to plan ahead, expect delays and use posted detour routes while work is underway.
