ST. MARYS, Ohio (WLIO) — Hundreds of children and their families made their way through downtown St. Marys for the annual Bunny Trail event.
The tradition, which began in 2020, invites families to travel from business to business collecting candy, treats, and small items such as toys and games. This year, 38 local businesses participated, offering a wide variety of stops along the trail.
The event also included a free movie at the St. Marys Theater following the Bunny Trail, giving families an opportunity to continue the festivities after completing the route. Organizers with the St. Marys Area Resource Team say the event is designed to showcase local businesses while creating a fun, family-friendly atmosphere.
“It's just good for people to realize how many businesses are downtown and how many businesses step up for the kids in the community. We hope the parents take away name recognition and realize what's down here, and we hope the kids are just having a good time and can just hang out and be kids,” says Amy Lauth, Plus One Real Estate.
In addition to the Bunny Trail, downtown St. Marys businesses also host a trick-or-treat event for children following the city’s annual Halloween parade.
