ST. MARYS, OH (WLIO) - Icy conditions didn’t stop hikers from participating in the second event of the Heritage Trails Park District’s “Cabin Fever Hike” series.
The Cabin Fever hikes give people a chance to get outdoors during the winter months, burn some calories, and enjoy nature. This trail gave hikers the opportunity to view the restored Lock 13. Although this was a Valentine’s hike, everyone was encouraged to participate.
"What we would like people to get out and do is enjoy nature, enjoy the natural beauty of the towpath trail, see the historical canal. Not a lot of people can say that they have a historical canal running through. So we want people to see that and enjoy the walk with their family," said P.J. Fought, executive director with Heritage Trails Park District.
The next event, the “Spring Forward” hike, is set for March 9. It will begin at 1 p.m. at the Noble Township Hall in St. Marys.
