There's light at the end of the tunnel as the Bellefontaine Avenue rail crossing should be back up open on Monday evening.
Crews will be working through the weekend to get the track in place to make the switch over from the shoe-fly rail to permanent track. Concrete pads have been poured at the crossing and crews are continuing to remove and install rail on the Indiana & Ohio line. The goal is to pave on Monday and open the intersection that evening. Until then, motorists are asked to find a different route to get across town.
This is all part of the grade separation project of an underpass on Elm Street at the I & O to improve traffic flow.
