The local Big Brothers, Big Sisters held their biggest fundraiser of the year Saturday afternoon. Bowl for Kids' Sake is the organization's largest annual fundraiser put on by agencies all across the country. The West Central Ohio agency invited the community out to Westgate Bowling Alley to have some fun, while making an impact on children's lives. The money raised at the event goes straight to keeping their mentoring programs running.
"We provide role models. People to give them a sense of hope, a sense of the future, help them make good decisions, help them do better in school, get along better with friends, get along better at home -- just have a happier, more fulfilled life," John Neville, executive director of BBBSWCO, said.
He says this event raises anywhere from 20 to 25 thousand dollars for Allen, Hardin and Putnam counties, but he thinks one day it could raise even more.
"I'd like to double that some day. I'd like to raise forty to fifty thousand. I think we can if we just keep growing and spreading the word, people will support us," he said.
