Boy Scouts change organization name to "Scouts BSA"

A recent decision to allow girls into the Boy Scouts programming has led the organization to change their name.

The organization is now known as "Scouts BSA". Despite the changes, those with the organization say that the programming will stay the same as it has been for the last 100 years. The decision to include girls in their programming was to make it easy for families to get their kids involved in community programs.

"This is more about family access than anything else -  we've go great development programs in our community including the Girl Scouts, Big Brothers Big Sisters, the YMCA, and they all do great things for kids, but we're just trying to give an opportunity for families as a one stop shop," said Marc Kogan, Scout Executive for Black Swamp Area Council. "It’s in our philosophy to just want kids involved with youth development, to make them better and more productive citizens for the future."

Boys and girls will be in separate dens and troops, but in the same organization.
