What do you get when you add 50 harmonicas, 20 steel drums, and one blues singer? A good time at Lima's Liberty Arts Magnet School.

Friday was the culmination of a week's worth of hard work with the Lima Blues Committee's "Blues in the Schools" and they were making history. Artists Jackie 5 & Dime and Geneva Red say this is the first time they have combined calypso and blues music and they say they like it and so did the students. Those taking part in the concert Friday say the week of learning the blues was worth it.

"I personally thought it was a great experience because it's something new to me, I haven't done it before. It's kind of upbeat and keeps me happy and going and keeps me awake everyday," said Keaton Anderson, who enjoyed learning the harmonica.

"My eighth graders I can't say enough about how wonderful they were, they paid attention and we had to get so much to them in just a little bit of time, they did great," said Geneva Red.

Geneva Red says she is impressed with how the community supports the arts in schools and hopes to be back to sing the blues once again in Lima.
