LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Allen County Democrats gathered Monday evening to hear from two candidates running for office.
One of the speakers at the Allen County Democratic Party's Fall Dinner was Tamie Wilson, who is running against incumbent Jim Jordan for the Ohio 4th District seat in U.S. Congress.

Also speaking at the event was incumbent Ohio Supreme Court Justice Michael Donnelly, an independent who says he's running as a proven non-partisan, common sense candidate.
She explained to voters that she supports passing bills that would bring more money and jobs into Ohio, like the hotly debated Ukraine War support. Wilson says that providing aid to Ukraine actually stimulates the American economy by creating work for manufacturers like the Lima tank plant.
According to Wilson, her opponent Jordan has voted no on every farm bill in the past 17 years. In contract, she says she's writing ten bills of her own to bring to Washington if elected.
"I'm writing a bill for veterans because I feel like a lot of times with our government there's too much red tape in the bills. My bills are two pages long versus 9,000 pages," Wilson said. "I think we need to make our veterans and everything that we're trying to help people with, it needs to be easily accessible. So, our veterans, for example, their healthcare needs, their benefits need to be easily accessible."

Justice Donnelly and Wilson will be on the ballot in the November 5th general election, just three weeks away.

"Over the course of the last five and a half years, I've been the most vocal advocate for the creation of a sentencing database. We don't collect data to allow judges to keep consistent with themselves and other judges," Donnelly explained. "I wrote the dissent in the infamous boneless chicken case that has gone viral, and to me, that was an example of judges redefining words, the plain meaning of the words. Making boneless equate to packed with bones."
