LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – A Chinese national is facing additional charges stemming from an attempt to defraud an Allen County resident.
Xianchun Li, 33, of Flushing, New York, was indicted by an Allen County grand jury on two counts of theft from a person in a protected class and one count of attempted theft from a person in the protected class. The charges are felonies of the second degree, and each carries a potential maximum sentence of eight years in prison. Li was arrested on July 29th in a sting operation conducted by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI.

Allen County prosecutors believe he is part of a larger organization that scams people out of money. They say he flew into Columbus the morning of his arrest and was booked to fly out the same day. He is currently being held in the Allen County Jail on a $1 million bond.
