City of Lima to distribute $1.33 million of HOME/CDBG funds

LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The City of Lima will be distributing over one million dollars of HOME (HOME Investment Partnerships Program) and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds into the community for various projects.

For 2024, a little over $275,000 of HOME funds and about $1.05 million of CDBG funds combined, for a grand total of approximately $1.33 million, will be funneled into the city. These numbers do not include additional carryover funds being distributed. Out of the 28 applications, 27 projects will receive a portion of these funds with the goal of positively enhancing community operations.

"Our HOME dollars are responsible for our home repair. They are also responsible for our First Home Lima Down Payment Assistance Program. Those are where those funds are being spent, and also, our CDBG money is the money that we allocate for our public works, for our streets department, for our parks and recreation, and things like that, so each of those departments as well will get an amount of funding that they need to help do things in the community as well," stated Carmillia Zion, deputy director of Housing and Neighborhoods for the City of Lima.

Compared to 2023, this year's home funds saw a 17% decrease, while CDBG funds observed a 4% increase.
