LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Groupie Movie Series ended their season with a showing of "Sing" on Sunday afternoon.
The Civic Center Foundation's program has brought families in to see both classic and recent movies from Labyrinth to Frozen this year. The goal is to give people in the area a chance to come out and experience some of their favorite films on the 60-foot screen at an affordable price of $5 per person. The series also has plenty of extras to make the theater experience even more fun.
"The kids really love coming to these Groupie Movies, and we truly try to lean into that. We had the costume parties; we had princesses for Frozen; we had this great whole stage full of princesses. And then for Little Mermaid, we had all these little mermaids up on stage; it was fantastic. And everybody loves doing the trivia," said John Garner, the assistant technical director at the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center.
The Civic Center Foundation's free Curtain Call series returns next month, starting with a performance by the Beer Barrel Boys on May 30th.
