Commissioners break ground for Allen County's new administration building

The county commissioners' broke ground on the nearly 17-million-dollar project.

ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - After years of planning, work will soon begin on Allen County's new administration building.

The county commissioners broke ground on the nearly 17-million-dollar project, which is to be located at 237 N. Main Street in Lima, Ohio. The new building will not only be the future home of the commissioners but also other county offices like the auditor, treasurer, veterans' services, and more. The state-of-the-art building will not only be a great asset for the residents of Allen County but also for the departments that will be making it their new home.

Charles Construction Services will start work soon on the administration building with a completion goal of summer 2026.

"The last couple of years we have been sitting around the table, discussing, putting things on paper, plans; it is finally nice to see it come to fruition, actually see a building start coming up out of the ground," says Commissioner Brian Winegardner. "We are just proud that we can be part of this revitalization of downtown Lima. We hope that our building will add to that help the future for downtown Lima and Allen County."

Charles Construction Services will start work soon on the administration building with a completion goal of summer 2026. Once the building is complete, the commissioner will be looking at revitalizing the courthouse to put all court-related departments under one roof.
