Lima city councilman held his annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day walk this afternoon.
It is the 8th year Derry Glenn has held the walk beginning at the corner of Reese and Holmes Avenues ending at Martin Luther King Jr. Park. Glenn invited anyone out to walk. He said he walks for peace and unity and strives for people to continue to teach youth about MLK's accomplishments. Part of Glenn's MLK Day celebrations, he hosted a dinner Sunday evening and handed out awards such as the "Rosa Parks Award" and "I Have a Dream Award."
"It means so much. it means so much to the people that are walking, our chief, " Glenn said. " It means so much to us that are out here in the cold right now showing that we appreciate what he's done. I wouldn't be here today doing a press conference right now without MLK's vision. I wouldn't be a city councilman for so long without MLK's vision. This means a lot."
