CRIDERSVILLE, OH (WLIO) - Jeeps took over downtown Cridersville for the fire department's first big event of the summer.
The Cridersville Fire Department's Food Truck and Jeep Invasion is continuing to grow substantially. This year, there were over 30 food trucks, over 70 vendors in the craft market, live music acts all day, a cornhole tournament, and 135 Jeeps, which is almost 50 more Jeeps than last year's festival.
The festival started four years ago, and the Jeep Invasion was included for the first time just last year. Hundreds of families attend, and the fire department plans to throw them an even bigger and better event next year.
"I think they love it, like the kids love seeing the Jeeps because there's so many themed Jeeps out there and with all the ducks and everything, they get to duck their own favorite Jeep. They get to vote for their favorite Jeep and people get to vote for their favorite food truck," said Jeff Reichelderfer of the Cridersville Fire Department.
"Community support has always been our biggest factor. I mean, they support everything we do here. We can't do anything here without the community so that's why we do stuff like this. To give back to them, to help them out also," added Chief Rick Miller.
The department will also host the Cridersville Fireman's Jamboree on July 12th and 13th.
