The process to fill the unexpired term of former Sheriff Sam Crish is moving forward as the deadline for applications was Friday February 10th.
The qualifications to be considered for the position of sheriff are many including the following: candidate must have lived in Allen County for at least 1 year, be a registered republican voter, have a certificate from a law enforcement academy, supervisory experience, a 2 or 4 year criminal justice degree and they must pass a background check .
Applications submitted as of now are: former Delphos Police Chief Kyle Fittro, American Township Police Chief Matt Redick, former Sheriff Dan Beck, Marion Township Police Chief Doug Vermillion, former Allen County Deputy Brian Schneider and interim Allen County Sheriff Matt Treglia.
Again there may be more applications received early next week as they were to be postmarked by today’s date.
Republican Committee Chair Juergan Waldick says they will review the resumes and applications and then schedule interviews.
