LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Your high school prom may have been unforgettable, but the dress you wore has likely been collecting dust in your closet for years.
But don't worry; the Kiwanis Club of Lima is now accepting donations of prom dresses until January 15th. So, whether you want to free up some space in your wardrobe or participate in a good cause, you can drop off your prom dresses and/or tuxedos at Duffy's Dry Cleaners in the Shawnee Plaza located at 2505 Shawnee Road, Lima, OH 45806. The donation will be used in the Kiwanis Club's annual Diva's Den, which opens on Saturday, January 20th, at the Masonic Center, located 2165 N Cole St, Lima, OH 45801, from 9 a.m. to noon.
"The whole idea of it is that prom gowns are extremely expensive. So, we go to the community for donations of prom gowns and then partner with Duffy's cleaners, who clean all the gowns and get them ready to be given away for free to girls who come to our Diva's Den in January," explained Candace Newland, director of Diva's Den.
The Diva's Den is asking for donations of long dresses, preferably, as another collection is in the works for homecoming in September. For further details, you can watch our Noon Edition Interview about Diva's Den by clicking here.
