The Lima Fire Department responded to a house fire at 1004 W. High Street around 3:30 Thursday afternoon (1/24/19).
Only one person was home at the time of the fire. Upon arrival, Lima Fire found the woman on the roof of the porch. Once they got her down, she was transported to St. Rita's for treatment.
The fire was contained to the kitchen but firefighters had trouble getting to it because the owner had a large number of personal items inside the home. Lima Fire says the flames started in the area of the stove, and could possibly be due to an unattended stove in use.
Between the building and loss of personal property, they are estimating the fire caused around $20,000 in damage.
