Hundreds of garden enthusiasts turned out for the first ever Van Wert Blooms program at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center.
And one of the reason that people came out what to hear from national television host, garden, and lifestyle expert P. Allen Smith. Smith was on hand to give tips on gardening and answer questions that the audience might have. Smith says there is a growth and enthusiasm about gardening and especially for vegetables and herbs and container gardening. And as he goes around the country to speak, Smith says there are questions that he gets asked the most often.
“How do I begin? What should I do in regard to designing my garden?” P. Allen Smith says to Your News Now. “Because you really want to start with the end in mind, so having some since of a plan is so important to create a beautiful landscape.”
And besides thinking about your color pallet of your garden, Smith says that spring is a good time to get your soil right before you plant flowers or vegetables. He adds that everything else is smooth sailing after that.
