LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Mercy Health-St. Rita's partnered with several organizations at the Central Lima Neighbor Association Reading Park on Saturday to educate the public about their health for free.

The 2nd annual Here's to Our Health Block Party brought plenty of community resources together in one place, including the West Ohio Food Bank, Activate Allen County, and other nonprofits with information about their services.

"What we like is that in this environment, it's not high-pressure; it's not intimidating. The idea is that they have people that are approachable. We know that they're not going to have to pay a cost to come and sit here and do this, and if they do need a referral, then we can make those. Last year, we had somebody who their blood pressure was so high, and they were pregnant, and we realized they needed to go right across the street to the emergency room right away," said Carla Thompson, the resource navigator at Mercy Health-St. Rita's.

The block party is part of Mercy Health's initiative to improve the health of the community, especially the at-risk census tract 129.
