A revamped Ohio license plate should help police identify where drivers are from. Governor Kasich is expected to unveil the new design Monday at the Columbus College of Art and Design where the plate was created.
The plates will come out next year featuring a plain design and Ohioans will have the chance to vote on slogans to decorate the background.
Local law enforcement say license plates in the past have looked very similar to ones from other states. The new plate may make it easier to identify an Ohio car and easier to read the numbers, but the Allen Country Sheriff's Office has technology to help with that already.
The new design replaces former Ohio first lady Frances Strickland's colorful 'Beautiful Ohio' plate. The redesigned driver's license will also be unveiled on Monday.
