SPENCERVILLE (WLIO) — Spencerville and Crestview were locked in a back-and-forth battle before play was suspended in the sixth inning with the score tied 7-7.
Crestview struck first in the opening inning when Violet Dirr’s fly ball to right resulted in a run scoring after a misplay.
Spencerville answered in the bottom half. Lexi Post drove a ball into the gap in center to bring home Haley Hittle, and Chevy Johnson followed with a two-run single down the third base line to give the Bearcats a 3-1 lead.
Post also handled duties in the circle, recording eight strikeouts for Spencerville.
Crestview continued to battle back, highlighted by Ayla Kreischer’s single past third base, as the teams traded runs before the game was halted.
