FINDLAY, Ohio (WLIO) - Northwest Ohio Railroad Preservation Inc. hosted an afternoon of family fun during its "Mid-Summer Party."

Families could come by the museum to learn about the history of the railroad industry in northwest Ohio through their model train displays. Kids could also play in bounce houses and take rides on the museum's full-size train. Volunteers say that the event helps brings people to the museum and shows people what their organization is all about.

"It gives us a grounding of what we are like in Ohio," said Michael Schroeder, a volunteer with the museum.

"Prior to the railroads, you had to have businesses set up on rivers and be water-powered. The railroads expanded businesses out across the whole nation, so every little town or burg could have a setup where they're manufacturing goods and selling them to the world.

The "Mid-Summer Party" was part of the museum's summer series of events, which will conclude with it's "Back-to-School Bash" on Aug. 22-23.
