COLUMBUS, Ohio — Senate President Rob McColley (R-Napoleon) honored Wrestling State Champion Kate Simmons of Findlay High School.
"It is my pleasure to honor an exceptional student-athlete of Northwest Ohio," said President McColley. "I'm proud to recognize Kate's accomplishments during her remarkable season, and I wish her the best in all of her future endeavors."

In her third trip to the state tournament, Simmons took the 170lb weight class title after defeating the two-time defending state champion in just 82 seconds. For her performance, Simmons was also named the 2025 OHSAA Girls State Tournament Outstanding Wrestler.
Simmons will continue her academic and athletic career at the University of Sioux Falls as a member of the Women's Wrestling Team.Â
