Head Start Program Still Accepting Students

Classes at the West Ohio Community Action Partnership on South Central Avenue just started Monday. The Head Start programs encourage healthy development of children from low-income families throughout Allen County. They offer services five days a week for children three to five years old.

"The children are working on colors and shapes. They're learning to get along and work in relationships with their peers. They're just working on their school readiness. We're building vocabulary skills, we're working on math skills, doing some exploring, just giving them the opportunity to really bond and get those school readiness skills ready," said Phyllis Montrose, the Child Development Services Director at WOCAP.

The organization also partners with local childcare centers for an early head start program for children from birth to three years. You can find out more about the programs at www.lacca.org or by visiting their office.
