LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Help Me Grow hosted a family resource fair Wednesday at the Allen County Museum, connecting local families with services and support.
Families with children from birth to age 5 were invited to attend. Organizers said the fair also introduced families to the free Help Me Grow augmented reality sandbox exhibit currently on display at the museum.
Local groups, including Mercy Health, WOCAP and Activate Allen County, were on hand to share information about resources available in the community.
“If families have questions, if they leave here feeling supported — that they know there’s identified agencies within our community that can help them … hopefully that they feel leaving supported and connected,” said Rachael Staley, director of early intervention for the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
The augmented reality sandbox exhibit is on display at the Allen County Museum’s Children’s Discovery Center through Aug. 3.
The Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities is also partnering with Help Me Grow in October for a free community developmental screening for children ages 0-5. A parent or guardian must accompany each child. Screenings include hearing, dental, vision, feeding, motor skills, speech, behavior and autism.
The event is scheduled for Oct. 20 from 4-7 p.m. at 2550 Ada Road. Registration ends at 6 p.m.
