LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Heritage Elementary students took the stage Wednesday night for the Heritage Holiday Extravaganza.
The program featured third- and fourth-grade performances and the Heritage Harmonics elementary show choir.
Students played Christmas classics such as “Up on the Housetop” and “Little Drummer Boy.”
The Heritage Harmonics closed the night with “Christmas Around the World,” showcasing holiday music from Germany, England, Mexico and other cultures.
“Lima City Schools is very strong in the arts, and music programs are wonderful. We've had many wonderful performances around town. And Crystal Miller, who is the teacher, has been an instigator of a lot of them. She has many ensembles. Tonight, they're featuring the Heritage Harmonics, which is their show choir, which is wonderful that they have their own show choir, and they tour out to different service organizations and community events,” said Kristin Lee, director of arts and magnet programs for Lima City Schools.
The district says their musical selections and programs help introduce students to cultures beyond the classroom.
