COLUMBUS GROVE, Ohio (WLIO) - Mercy Health providers from Columbus Grove Family Medicine presented a $12,000 check Wednesday to the new Putnam County YMCA.
The Columbus Grove branch opened in November and is still in its soft-opening phase as final details are completed. The lower level—including the gym and weight room—is open daily from 7 AM To 7 PM. The YMCA plans to add 24/7 access soon, and the upstairs gym, pickleball court and group fitness rooms will open in the coming weeks.
Mercy Health leaders say the donation is part of their commitment to promoting health and wellness throughout the community.
Mercy Health leaders say the donation is part of their commitment to promoting health and wellness throughout the community.
"In our practice, we obviously want to promote health and wellness overall for our patients, but there's only so much we can do inside the walls of our medical center," said Dr. Alisa Marzec, a physician with Mercy Health. "It takes true investment from the community and things like this to help bring and promote health and wellness all around to our patients."
"We hired people from the county or people who lived in the county and had businesses, and they came in and made it look like this," said Aaron Baumgartner, CEO of the Putnam County YMCA. "This is one of the finest gyms in the area, the finest machines here, so we're proud to give this as a Christmas gift to Columbus Grove."
As the Columbus Grove branch continues to expand its offerings, you can find more updates on their website and Facebook page.
