Honda is finding ways to make personal and racing vehicles better, by cranking up the wind.
Honda opened up their state-of-the-art wind tunnel facility at the Transportation Research Center in East Liberty. The $124 million facility will be able to test three separate functions, aerodynamics, aeroacoustics, and racing at one location. The tunnel can reach wind speeds up to 190 mph.
Honda says the wind tunnel will be used more as they continue to grow their electric fleet and noise reduction becomes ever more important to vehicle designs. Plus, the wind tunnel will help increase the range and performance of their electric vehicles. Over the past 40 years, Honda has invested more than $14 billion in Ohio.
