LIMA, OH (WLIO) - They were ringing in the new year with the Lima Symphony's Disco and Motown concert.
Those in attendance danced the night away with timeless hits from the likes of Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, and ABBA. But the fun didn't stop there; the symphony also performed classics throughout the decades, such as "Stayin' Alive," "Dancing Queen," and "My Girl," with a special surprise from the hit movie Barbie. Headlining Tuesday nights show was Jeans 'n Classics, who kept the audience grooving all night long.
"We always love doing a New Year's Eve concert because it's such a great way to celebrate the season and celebrate the holidays. We always do a Pops concert on New Year's Eve, so we're bringing back Jeans n' Classics, which is a wonderful band from Canada, all classically trained musicians. They have all decided to take their careers in slightly different directions. Tonight, we're doing the music of Disco and Motown, which I've wanted to do for ten years, and I am thrilled to have them here tonight," spoke Elizabeth Brown-Ellis, Lima Symphony Orchestra Executive Director.
Coming up in January, the Lima Symphony Orchestra will transition to their Candlelight concerts to begin their 2025 season.
