Former Ohio Senate minority leader made a special appearance at the Allen County Democratic Spring Dinner Tuesday night.
Joe Schiavoni talked to a crowd of over 50 people at the Knights of Columbus. One of his main talking points was engaging the youth.
He said it's important for the youth to feel like their voices matters when it comes to primary and presidential elections. He says he always encourages the youth to not only stand up for issues they care about, but to pick candidates and truly fight for them.
Ohio Democratic Representative Tim Ryan is the latest of almost 20 Democratic candidates running for the 2020 presidential election. Although he represents Ohio, Schiavoni said it may be difficult for him to win.
“You have to have money in order to have that mass marketing plan to hire all the folks across the country, and right now he doesn’t have a whole lot of it,” said Schiavoni. “So that’s what makes it tough. Unfortunately money is really important in elections, especially presidential ones.”
Many showed their support for the RTA levy which will be on the ballot for the May primary.
