Meyers handed in his resignation to the board this month. He says he's ready to focus on being a grandpa to his two-year-old grandson, spend more time with his family, and enjoy life. Meyers took over as superintendent at Shawnee in 2021, after serving in various levels of administrative roles at schools around Ohio. He noted his wife teaches at Apollo and he likes the Shawnee community. He is looking forward to staying involved and likes working with the staff and students at the school.

"You know I have a student advisory group that I meet with. That is probably one of my favorite things, where you get to interact with kids on that daily basis and things," says Jude Meyers, who is retiring as superintendent of Shawnee School District. "But, there are so many positive things going on here. I know our building were just named in U.S. News and World Reports as outstanding buildings. Our AP scores are incredible, even comparing them, we are way above national and state comparisons. So, to be here a great administrative team, support of the board, it's a great place to be."

Meyers says he will continue to work with the board on the transition to the next superintendent. Allen County Educational Service Center's superintendent will be helping the school district with the search. They are hoping to start interviews early next year, with the new superintendent starting on August 1st.
