Allen County Adult Protective Services works to protect and defend area seniors that have faced some sort of abuse.
June 15th is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day and the Allen County office is wanting to do a little something extra to assist the seniors they serve. They received some one-time federal dollars that they have turned into a grant program that will provide yard cleanup services for seniors that might need them.
Jacob Larger Director of Allen County Adult Productive Service explained, “The idea is to take a little bit of the load off of a senior that might be in need. These are activities that might be a little hard now that the summer is starting to get a little hotter or you know whatever that might look like. If we can play just a little bit of a role in making their lives a little bit easier that’s what we're here for.”
Anyone 60 years and older that comes through their traditional referral process are eligible for the service.
