SIDNEY, Ohio (WLIO) — It was a high-scoring shootout in the Division VII postseason opener as Minster traveled to Lehman Catholic for a rematch nearly a decade in the making.

The Cavaliers struck first in the second half when Turner Lachey powered across the goal line for a one-yard touchdown. After converting the two-point try, Lehman Catholic extended its lead to 30-20.

Minster answered right back. Quarterback Carson Kaylor found fellow sophomore Brendan Halpin streaking downfield for a 37-yard touchdown, cutting the deficit to just three.

Later in the game, trailing 36-27, the Wildcats kept pushing. Tyler Bergman broke loose for a 90-yard touchdown run, electrifying the Minster crowd and pulling the Wildcats within two.

But the Cavaliers had one more answer. Lachey connected with John Verrill for a crucial touchdown late in the fourth quarter, helping Lehman Catholic hold off Minster 50-48.

With the win, Lehman Catholic advances to face undefeated Marion Local in Week 12.
