Let the games begin as the City of Lima's annual Playground Program gets underway

LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Even though it didn’t feel much like summer today that didn’t discourage dozens of kids from coming out to play.

It was the start of the city of Lima’s summer playground program and this year it is just at Faurot Park. The centralized location offers the kids a wide-open space for play and exercise along with access to the Children’s Fountaine when the dog days of summer arrive. This year seventy-five kids 6 to12-year old are participating and enjoying themselves.

Deontae Cowens, a 4th grader, is a return playground participant and says “It’s fun and you can like play whatever game you want. You can play 4-square, football, dodgeball and stuff.”

And 4th grader Solace Stover also has returned for another year. “I’m meeting a lot of new friends and I love doing things here. I play like tag, soccer, I do dodgeball and I do four-square.”
