LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Librarians at Ohio State Lima showing students their efforts to preserve Ukrainian heritage online.

The librarians have been a part of the group "Saving Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Online", or "SUCHO", which strives to archive different kinds of digital artifacts coming from Ukraine. This could include things like photographs, artwork, music, and websites. These efforts are done to make sure that this information isn't lost in the aftermath of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

"Much like physical objects, digital objects can also be destroyed so something that is being hosted in Ukraine we want to make sure there is a copy elsewhere in case something happens to the server or to the physical object that it was based on, so it's really important to be able to have at least a copy of it preserved somewhere," explained Tina Schneider, OSU Lima library director.
The librarians also hope that the students will take away that whatever they find culturally significant can also be archived online.
