After months of controversy and heated debate, Lima City Council members voted tonight to pass the mayor's salary.
It passed 7-1, and was a quick and uneventful vote. No one spoke out or asked to discuss the matter further. The salary council members decided on for the position of mayor, is $123,500. That salary goes into effect December 1, 2017. Mayor David Berger reacts.
"I've never participated in any discussion with council, when they established the original formula for the mayor's salary, nor at this point in this recent debate.," said Mayor David Berger. "My intention's to, as I've already announced, run for the mayor's position and look forward to continuing to serve the capacity of the city's chief executive."
Also at Monday night's meeting, the vote passed to create another community-oriented policing substation in the north end of Lima. The outstation would be located at the Northwood-Maplewood apartments on Brower Road. We're told it could open as soon as in the next 6 months.
