On Tuesday night Lima City Schools staff got the chance to shine during an annual arts and music showcase.
Close to 50 people attended the Lima City Schools 35th annual Evening with the Arts at the Veterans Memorial Civic Center.
Throughout the night, attendees got the opportunity to explore the art created by Lima City art teachers. Acrylic paintings, glasswork, digital art, and sculptures were just some of the pieces displayed.
Later in the night, there was a recital where performing arts staff showcased their musical and singing talents. This is an event that the organizer said allows staff to show that they are more than just teachers.
“The importance is to not only show that not only are we teachers, but we actually, but actually do our craft,” said Kristin Lee, Lima City Schools fine arts curriculum team leader. “We know our craft well. With the old adage those who can’t do teach, we like to show that we can do and we can teach. Also to set an example for our students that arts are a part of our everyday lives.”
People can check out the art pieces at the Veterans Memorial Civic Center until the end of March.
