Shawnee Township residents may receive free pizza for properly functioning smoke alarms

October 9, 2024, Press Release from Domino's: Lima Domino's, located at 2400 Cable Court, and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) are teaming up with the Shawnee Township Fire Department to promote fire safety during Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 6-12). On Thursday, Oct. 10 from 5-7 p.m., anyone who orders a Domino's pizza may be randomly selected and surprised at the door when their pizza arrives accompanied by a fire engine. If the smoke alarms in the home are working, their order is free. If the smoke alarms are not working, the firefighters will replace them or install new batteries.

"Fire safety is essential," said Alyx Hartness, Lima Domino's franchisee. "We're very excited to partner with NFPA and the fire department again for a program that not only promotes the safety of our friends at neighbors but rewards those who prioritize fire safety."

This year's Fire Prevention Week theme is "Smoke alarms: Make them work for you!"

"Cooking fires are the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries," said Matthew Reaman, fire prevention officer for the Shawnee Township Fire Department. "The good news is that you can prevent most cooking fires and burns with some simple but effective tips that we hope to share through our partnership with Domino's."

Customers can call Lima Domino's at 419-222-3030 to place their order and be eligible for fire engine delivery.
