Lima Family YMCA offers “No School Days” program for children during Thanksgiving

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — With schools closed around the holidays, the Lima Family YMCA is giving families a place for kids to learn, play, and stay active.

The YMCA hosted a session today and will hold another “No School Days” program on Friday, November 28. The program runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is open to children in kindergarten through fourth grade.

Kids spend the day doing classroom activities, holiday crafts, playing games in the gym, and swimming. Staff say the program provides a safe and fun option for families who are working, shopping, or getting ready for the holidays.

“This is a great opportunity for any parents, whether they're out doing some holiday shopping or getting ready for Thanksgiving tomorrow, or they're at work today, or anything like that. This is a great place for them to come, their kids are safe. They're taken care of, and they're having fun, which is kind of still similar to, like a school setting, but it is a little different. It's more fun. We still do some educational things, but it's a lot more play-based and stuff like that,” said Skylinn Prine, teen development director, Lima Family YMCA.

Registration is available both in person and online at LimaYMCA.net. The cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members.
