The University of Northwestern Ohio medical assistant students were on hand to do blood pressure screenings and talk about heart health.

Saturday was Health and Nutrition Day at the market. The University of Northwestern Ohio medical assistant students were on hand to do blood pressure screenings and talk about heart health. WIC was there to promote the benefits of breastfeeding, and WOCAP was talking about their head start program. Besides the information, people had a lot of homemade items to choose from and a lot of healthy food coming from area farms.

"We are seeing home-grown local apples. We are seeing all kinds of produce from multiple different vendors. We have pasture-raised chicken, so free-range chicken."

“We have all kinds of different produce, fruits, and vegetables. It’s a great time of year to get some of those back-to-school items to send in your kids lunches. Or just have some things in your fridge. We are seeing home-grown local apples. We are seeing all kinds of produce from multiple different vendors. We have pasture-raised chicken, so free-range chicken. All kinds of different options out here,” says Madelyn Downing, Manager, The Lima Farmers Market.

If you would like some fresh fruit and vegetables or some homemade items, the Farmers Market is each Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on the Cable Rd. side of the UNOH campus through September.
