Lima Locos general manager speaks at Lima Rotary Club meeting

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Members of the Lima Locos spoke about their season and their impact in Lima this afternoon at the Lima Rotary Club.

Locos general manager Sean Boley spoke to the club about the team, which currently holds the best record in their league at 12-2.

The Locos are entering their 38th season as a member of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League, hosting college athletes from 16 schools for summer baseball.

Boley stated that the Locos provide both a chance for college athletes to develop further and a family-friendly atmosphere in Lima.

"We had a lot last week at our youth night in terms of a kids camp, so all those kids were able to come out and enjoy a baseball game with their family and (it) inspires them, because they hopefully have ambitions and want to work their way up to play college ball," said Boley.

Locos pitchers Drew Ferguson and Adam Guillet also spoke at the meeting, highlighting how the community has welcomed them in their move from Louisiana Tech to Lima.

"I wanted to play collegiate baseball for a long time, it started whenever I was just a kid and I'm playing summer ball now. I didn't play too much into the spring, so I pretty much came to Lima to get some more experience and some more work," said Ferguson. "Everyone in the Lima area just supports the Locos with their full heart and full effort, everyone's there for us."

The Locos hosted the rotary club on June 18 for their match-up against the Grand Lake Mariners. They travel to Hamilton to play the Joes Tuesday and Wednesday before they finish the series Thursday at Simmons Field.
