ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - It was a colon bigger than life on Friday at Lima Memorial Health System.
It was a walk-through educational experience to better understand the health of your colon. According to the American Cancer Society, colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed in both men and women in the United States. It's suggested that you should start colon cancer screenings by age 45, as doctors can treat, prevent, or even cure colon cancer if it's found early.
Dr. Shannon Wesley, a proctologist with Lima Memorial Health System, says, “Beside polyps, we can find cancers, inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerations of the colon, and we even find diverticulosis.”
This display wraps up a month of colorectal cancer awareness events. The colon exhibit came in from Boston Scientific.
